In this guide, we will explore common weather-related terms in Japanese, how to ask about the weather, and phrases you can use in everyday conversations. 

Weather Vocabulary

  • いい天気です(いいてんきです)
    Romaji: Ii tenki desu
    English: It’s nice weather.
  • 晴れです(はれです)
    Romaji: Hare desu
    English: It’s sunny.
  • 曇りです(くもりです)
    Romaji: Kumori desu
    English: It’s cloudy.
  • 雨です(あめです)
    Romaji: Ame desu
    English: It’s raining.
  • 雪です(ゆきです)
    Romaji: Yuki desu
    English: It’s snowing.
  • 雷です(かみなりです)
    Romaji: Kaminari desu
    English: There is thunder.
  • 風が強いです(かぜがつよいです)
