Understanding how to ask “how old?” in Japanese is an essential skill for engaging in conversations. However, it’s important to note that asking someone’s age can sometimes be considered rude or intrusive, especially in formal contexts or with people you don’t know well.

How old in Japanese

おいくつ (oikutsu) is a more polite way to ask someone’s age compared to なんさい (nansai).

How old are you?おいくつ・なんさいですか。oikutsunan sai desuka.
